Hari Sumpah Pemuda

Hari ini adalah Hari Sumpah Pemuda. Semoga persatuan Bangsa Indonesia akan semakin erat lagi. Selamat untuk semua Pemuda/i Indonesia.

Note Tadi pagi saya lewat jalan mulai Berland, Matraman, Salemba, Kramat Raya *macet* sekali... Selepas gedung sumpah pemuda baru jalannya lancar. Dari Berland sampai depan gedung Sumpah Pemuda itu ditempuh 1.5 Jam. Kalau gak salah tadi ada Wakil Presiden RI Bpk. Jusuf Kalla deh di sana.

Nescafe Mochacino

Saya baru mencoba product nya Nescafe Mochacino (Line product : Nescafe 3in1)... euy enak loh... Harum kopinya dan Mocha nya... cobain deh... Harga 1 packnya di toko dekat rumah saya (isi 5 sachet) itu lima ribuan. Trus ini lebih enak dari yang bungkusnya warna hijau. (Info : telah terdaftar di POM)

Cocok banget kalau lagi di-kantor trus lagi kerja minum kopi ini jadi lebih "bersemangat"... Selamat mencoba...

Express your inner values

Do your outer choices reflect your inner values? If not, then your life will move from one conflict to another.

Yet when the choices you make do indeed come from the person you are, then you will travel steadily in the direction of your highest visions. When your actions are in agreement with your purpose, those actions will surely take you where you most want to go.

Why would you ever act in opposition to who you truly are? Unfortunately, there are plenty of temptations to do so.

It could be that you're worried about what others will think, so you go along with what they expect you to do, even though it hurts somewhere inside. Or it could be that you crave the false sense of security that material possessions and shallow pleasures seem to offer.

Yet the real you, the beautiful, unique person inside, knows better. The more you allow your own deeply held values to guide your moment-to-moment thoughts and actions, the more fulfilling and joyful life will become.

There is real and inexhaustible value in the authentic person you are. Let your life express it in everything you do.

Experience it

Let go of the need to know it all, and you'll begin to experience more and more. Move beyond the desire to always prove that you're right, and your eyes will open to profound truths.

What has it ever gained anyone to be cynical and closed minded? Choose instead to open your mind, to open your eyes to the astounding, ever-increasing richness of what is.

Let yourself out of the prison that your ego keeps trying to build. There's a big, beautiful universe right here and now that's filled with value for you to live.

Weblog Usability: The Top Ten Design Mistakes

Summary:
Weblogs are often too internally focused and ignore key usability issues, making it hard for new readers to understand the site and trust the author.

Weblogs are a form of website. The thousands of normal website usability guidelines therefore apply to them, as do this year's top ten design mistakes. But weblogs are also a special genre of website; they have unique characteristics and thus distinct usability problems.

One of a weblog's great benefits is that it essentially frees you from "Web design." You write a paragraph, click a button, and it's posted on the Internet. No need for visual design, page design, interaction design, information architecture, or any programming or server maintenance.

Weblogs make having a simple website much easier, and as a result, the number of people who write for the Web has exploded. This is a striking confirmation of the importance of ease of use.

Weblogs' second benefit is that they're a Web-native content genre: they rely on links, and short postings prevail. You don't have to write a full article or conduct original research or reporting. You can simply find something interesting on another site and link to it, possibly with commentary or additional examples. Obviously, this is much easier than running a conventional site, and again indicates the benefits of lowering the barriers to computer use.

As a third benefit, weblogs are part of an ecosystem (sometimes annoyingly referred to as the Blogosphere). This means that whatever good postings exist are promoted through links from other sites. More reader/writers see this good stuff, and the very best then get linked to even more. As a result, link frequency follows a Zipf distribution, with disproportionally more links to the best postings.

Some weblogs are really just private diaries intended only for a handful of family members and close friends. Usability guidelines generally don't apply to such sites, because the readers' prior knowledge and motivation are incomparably greater than those of third-party users. When you want to reach new readers who aren't your mother, however, usability becomes important.

Also, while readers of your intranet weblog might know you, usability is important because your readers are on company time.

To reach new readers and respect your existing readers' time constraints, test your weblog against the following usability problems.

Saya datang ketempat ini sekitar jam 23.30 WIB Malam Minggu kemarin, lumayan sepi --- 45% bangku yang tersedia yang terisi. Wow, kebetulan parkirnya pas pintu masuk Kunang-Kunang sudah terlihat asap butir-butir air (seperti smoke-gun) yang keluar dari pohon-pohon. Jalan masuk Kunang-Kunang melewati kolam ikan.

Keren banget deh tempatnya. Asik tempatnya... Aku rekomendasikan buat yang mo ke Surabaya dan jangan lupa mampir di tempat ini ya. BTW: Bagi yang punya masalah dengan udara lembab, coba duduk di bagian dalam saja ok.

Yang lebih asik lagi, kalau kamu bawa Notebook/HP yang bisa WIFI pasti akan dikasih komplimentari akses WIFI - D~NET Surabaya untuk 2 Jam Akses oleh Servernya. Itu semua Gratis. Saya kebetulan juga dikasih loh.

Surabaya (1) Motor Menyalakan Lampu

Catatan Perjalanan 15/10/2005

Sehabis mendarat dengan AWAIR (saat itu siang hari - jam 10:00 WIB) di Bandara Angkatan Laut Juanda Surabaya, dan kemudian dilanjutkan mengunakan Taksi Aiport menuju Hotel Hilton Surabaya. Saya sempet "kaget" juga, kenapa sih motor siang hari pada menyalakan lampu. Saya pikir "mereka" lupa mematikan lampu - Karena kalau di Jakarta, saya pasti memberitahu sang pembawa motor untuk mematikan lampunya (kan ini siang hari - hemat energi).

Ternyata "Menyalakan Lampu Motor" adalah peraturan baru yang diterapkan di Surabaya. Oh... Baru tahu saja... Tapi kok??? Kan menurut pendapat saya Lampu adalah alat bantu penerangan di saat gelap, nah ini khan mataharinya gede banget... tapi itulah Surabaya. Wes lah...

Jakarta Surabaya PP

Pagi tadi jam 10.00 WIB, saya kembali berada di Jakarta --- Sabtu pagi kemarin saya berangkat bersama Pdt. Rohadi Sutisna dan k'Vandi Salindeho ke Surabaya dalam rangka Presentasi InfoCentral-GPIB (d/h smjGPIB) dalam Sidang Tengah Tahunan GPIB Mupel Jawa Timur di GPIB Maranatha Surabaya.

Ada beberapa hal "menarik" yang akan saya tuliskan di blog ini mengenai kunjungan saya ke Surabaya (Antara lain Peraturan Lalu-Lintas yang *sedang* diterapkan di Surabaya, Kunang-Kunang Open Air Cafe, Jalur baru AWAIR ke Surabaya). BTW 5 tahun yang lalu --- tahun 2000 saya juga pertama kali berada di Surabaya. Update kemarin saya nginep di Surabaya Hilton

Minggu ini...

Ada yang lupa saya cerita...

Hari selasa minggu ini, Kakakku K'Jean, Freddy dan Gregory mampir ke Rumah di PTM --- mereka baru saja dari Bandung dan akan kembali ke Bali. Mereka di Bandung, dalam rangka menghadiri Pernikahan teman mereka. Thanks atas Bolu Kukus Amanda nya (yang memang favoritku), abis selain enak pasti nya gratis. Keponakanku Greg baru saja sembuh sakit, kata mamanya dia turun 2 kb berat badannya. Kata mereka, Tol Cipularang dikelilingi pemandangan nya bagus2x trus kalau ke Bandung coba ke Ciwalk deh (iya deh, nanti coba mampir).

Sabtu, minggu lalu saya mulai mengunakan iPod : aku beli yang 2GB warna hitam dan namanya iPod Nano di Apple Store Plaza Senayan. Wah keren banget sudah berwarna dan bisa tampilin photo trus bisa podcast (nah yang terakhir belum bisa aku coba - masih belum tahu caranya). BTW : Aku baru tahu kalau Hari ini Apple mengeluarkan iPod seri baru yang bisa *semuanya* sekaligus bisa play video. Ya aku da kedahuluan beli iPod Nano.

Trus, aku mo kasih tahu buat ke-6 pemenang Wirstband; kalau baru esok (jumat) aku kirim. Hari ini karena kesibukan aku, belum sempat dikirim. Sabar ya Guys!

How do we tell non-bloggers about blogging?

Sex Education and a 6 year old - How do we tell non-bloggers about blogging?

How do you describe blogging to someone who has never blogged? I was trying to find a metaphor and this one bumped into my mind.

When my son James was about six, he was shown a copy of The Joy of Sex by my niece - thanks Astrid - James was so disgusted by the pictures that he claimed that he would never get married. After all if you describe the sex act to a six year old, it doesn't sound like something that any sane person would want to do - let alone become fixated by!

So when I describe the act of blogging to a corporate person, all they see is that I have asked them to spend even more time every day doing a form of email. They only see the act of typing and reading without the context of having a voice and finding a community. Just as a 6 year old only sees the physical act of penetration and sharing spit and misses the joy of passion and of intimacy.

How do we explain blogging so that non bloggers can get it?

Action and consequence

The actions you take have consequences, and some of those consequences can be painful. Yet life would be hopelessly more painful if there were no consequences.

If actions had no consequences, there would be no reliable way to achieve anything. There would be no way for you to direct or control the circumstances of your life.

As it is, you can choose the consequences you experience by choosing the actions that bring about those consequences. You are able, in large part, to avoid the consequences you don't want and to create the consequences you desire.

By taking responsibility for the consequences in your life, you gain the power to determine what those consequences will be. By accepting and embracing responsibility for the outcomes of your actions, you are able to bring about the outcomes you prefer.

In each moment, with each choice you make, consider what that choice will bring. You have the power to create your own results.

Choose your actions with care and positive intent, and you'll like the consequences they bring.

Bali Bombing, Again ?

Kemarin Bali kembali di guncang bom... bom yang terjadi di Jimbaran dan Kuta, membuat saya kuatir sekali karena ke-dua kakak saya berdomisili di kedua area tersebut. Puji TUHAN YESUS, kalau sampai saya menulis blog ini keberadaan kedua kakak saya baik-baik saja. Ketika kemarin malam mendengar berita tersebut, saya mencoba menghubungi kakak-kakak saya dan rekan di bali, tapi disconnected terus hubungan telp nya. Baru tengah malam saya bisa menghubungi k'Youth. Thanks buat temen-temen kantor yang mengirimkan SMS kepada saya kemarin malam, menanyakan keberadaan kedua kakak saya di sana.

Tiga tahun lalu Bali di guncang bom. Kenapa lagi sih ? Kenapa Bali ? (pertanyaan itu hadir di benak saya kemarin malam sampai pagi hari ini).

Richest treasures

In this day there is real and lasting treasure. Somewhere in the circumstances, the people, the moments, the experiences of today there is a unique and valuable gem that can bring much richness to your life.

If you set out with the goal of just getting through today, you'll likely pass that treasure by without even seeing it. If you spend your energy on anger, envy, worry or gloominess, your eyes will be blinded to the goodness and value that could otherwise be yours.

For today is a day when you can make positive, creative and beautiful things happen, if you will. Today is a day when you can add much meaning and substance to your world, if you choose.

Like precious diamonds that are hidden beneath the ground, the most valuable treasures of this day are not immediately evident. Yet the more love, creativity and effort you put into life on this day, the more real value you will uncover.

The most valuable treasures won't be found in those things from which you attempt to take. The real treasures will be in those things to which you give the best of who you are.

Choose now to do more than simply get through this day. Choose to discover and to live its richest treasures.
