Step after step

How many small opportunities do you routinely ignore because you're waiting, wishing, searching and hoping for a big opportunity? That big opportunity may or may not ever arrive, yet all the while those small opportunities are there for the taking.

Every moment is an opportunity to create a little bit of value. Although the progress you can make in a single moment may not seem like much, those small moments can add up over time to big achievements.

Take one small step and it hardly seems like you've gone anywhere at all. Yet when you continue taking step after step, you can get anywhere you choose to go.

The most reliable path to success is a simple one that anyone who chooses to do so can follow. Dream big dreams and take small steps, one after another after another until you're there.

If you attempt to leap to the top of the mountain in a single effort, you will almost certainly fail. Yet make the commitment to reach the summit step by step, and you will surely get yourself there.

Right this moment there are dozens of small opportunities just waiting for you to seize. Create a little value here, a little value there, again and again, and there's no limit to where you can go.

Mempersiapkan "perubahan" total website ini

Memang sudah waktunya website ini perlu di "rubah"... tapi tetap saja skema warna tetap dipertahankan (merah maroon hitam abu-abu). Sekarang saya sedang mempersiapkan design baru situs ini (iya website vikingkarwur.com --- semuanya...)

Kalau baca beberapa post terdahulu... langkah awal saya ada :
* Sudah menghilangkan Google Adsense (dari website ini --- tapi belum selesai di beberapa bagian...)
* Sudah mempersiapkan TextPattern 4.0.5 sebagai engine CMS berikutnya...

Website yang baru di tujukan untuk standard monitor 17"... bye2x 15" monitor... bukannya gak cinta... tapi monitor 15" da kekecilan...

Layout design / content baru sudah sampai dimana ?
* Skets nya da finish... semua halaman...
* Contents baru sebagian.... mudah-mudahan sukses bisa selesai 2 bahasa...
* Site structures nya da beres...
* Mockup sudah 75% finish...

Kenapa harus berubah ? jawabannya HARUS... paling tidak, harus sekarang...

Beberapa saat belakangan ini saya selalu berbicara tentang si TextPattern (TxP) ya ? Iya karena TxP ini sangat luwes banget di gunakan...

Nah, kalau ada saran untuk fungsi / features di situs baru... silahkan berikan komentarnya... Atau bisa juga via japri ya... Ada 1 hadiah untuk 1 orang yang memberikan komentarnya... dan saya akan pilih secara acak... Hadiahnya... 1 Tahun Hosting 400MB + 1 Tahun Domain Name gratis... Lumayankan... Nah saya tunggu komentarnya... Saya umumkan pada saat launch website baru...

First impressions

First impressions are helpful and important. Yet they are certainly not everything.

A quick first impression can give you a feel for what's going on. Still, there's much substance that lies beneath the surface.

Allow your instincts to guide you without letting them dominate you. Do the work and dig deeper before making any long-term judgments or commitments.

In presenting yourself, seek to make an excellent first impression. Be sure, however, to also have the depth of substance that will faithfully back up that initial positive impression.

Those who are quick to judge, without considering all the facts, often make serious and irreversible mistakes. More often than not, hasty judgments lead to trouble, alienation, anger, frustration and regret.

Pay attention to your first impression. And let that first impression be a starting point rather than a final conclusion.

Whatever effort necessary

When you're willing to make an initial effort, you'll succeed sometimes. Take the next step, make a second effort, and you'll succeed more often.

If you're prepared to make a third, fourth, or fifth effort, you'll reach a much higher success rate. And when you commit to putting forth whatever effort is necessary, you will achieve whatever you choose.

Real and lasting success usually requires more than one attempt. If you make just a single attempt and then give up, you haven't given yourself much of an opportunity to achieve.

There is no reason to become discouraged if you fail to reach your goal on the first attempt, or even the second or third. For each effort, though it may not get you there, gets you closer.

Even an unsuccessful attempt gives you valuable knowledge and experience, and vastly increases the likelihood of success on the next attempt. When you continue getting closer each time, you surely and eventually will get where you intend to go.

The roads leading to the most beautiful places always twist and turn and double back on themselves. Keep making the effort, no matter what, and you will reach the beautiful places where you wish to be.

Setelah lebih dari satu tahun lamanya situs web ini berkibar, mengisahkan kisah selama bertugas dari beberapa profil staff sipil dan anggota kontingen Indonesia pada misi pemulihan perdamaian PBB..

Soft-launching dari situs web Indonesian Peacekeepers berjudulkan "Our Peacekeeping Journey" akhirnya muncul kembali dengan sentuhan rancang desain grafis baru, ragam fitur-web lainya.

Selain profil koresponden sebelumnya, situs web ini juga menghadirkan beberapa koresponden baru lainya, beberapa diantaranya adalah staff asal Indonesia dari Misi Peacekeeping PBB di Sudan, serta beberapa profil diluar lingkup staff peacekeeping dan badan PBB lainya, mereka yang berkiprah di dunia swasta, selain dari cerita lapangan humanitarian relief & peacekeeping effort, situs ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan kiprah anak bangsa dalam dunia profesinya masing-masing.

Visi dan misi dari situs web bersama ini adalah untuk membuka-lebar cakrawala pandang dan sarana berbagi pengalaman kepada rekan-rekan di tanah air, bahwa kesempatan untuk berkarir, kesempatan untuk menjadi mitra dalam proses perdamaian yang diupayakan dan banyak lagi, masih terbuka lebar buat kita semua generasi penerus untuk dapat menjawab tantangan global dan mempersiapkan dirinya agar dapat berdiri sejajar dengan bangsa lainnya dalam forum multi-lateral seperti United Nations Peacekeeping dan juga persaingan dunia profesional diluar sana.

Peacekeeping, adalah tanggung jawab kita bersama, dan tidaklah hanya mereka yang berseragam dan bersenjata saja yang dapat menyumbangkan kontribusinya dalam menciptakan dan menjaga perdamaian. Masing-masing dari kita memiliki "a shared responsibility" untuk bisa memberikan sumbangsihnya baik kepada lingkungan setempat dimana sang individu itu berada hingga dalam cakupan yang lebih luas, seperti peacekeeping di afrika dan negara konflik atau pasca-konflik lainya.

Nah, pola-pikir inilah yang senantiasa dipancar-teruskan melalui proses berbagi-pengalaman, dan beberapa imaji dari lapangan penugasan.

Rancang design situs web ini, turut didukung oleh keandalan seorang web-designer andal, yaitu Viking Karwur yang juga sudah mempunyai portofolio dan jam terbang yang cukup tinggi dibidang Web-Design Services.

Selain artikel-artikel dari Perwira Penerangan Kontingen Garuda XXIII-A, Isi konten situs, artikel dari para koresponden, adalah semata-mata hasil buah tulisan pribadi, pandangan dan opini pribadi koresponden, dan TIDAK mewakili sebagai pandangan resmi badan atau organisasi dimana koresponden tersebut bernaung/bekerja .

Artikel-artikel tersebut adalah semata-mata diperuntukkan sebagai ajang pertukaran informasi, berbagi-pengalaman cerita semasa bertugas dalam upaya menambah wawasan pembaca.

Semoga saja dengan hadirnya situs bersama Indonesian Peacekeepers ini dapat membangun tinggi rasa cinta dan bela tanah air dan semangat para generasi muda untuk juga mampu menjawab tantangan global seperti peacekeeping, humanitarian relief, dan tantangan lain-nya, serta memberikan suguhan/bacaan "berbeda" bagi para warga blogsphere.

Soft-launch PRALANGGA.ORG

Project terbaru aku sudah di soft-launch-kan :) PRALANGGA.ORG "Our Peacekeeping Journey". Dengan catatan roll-out resmi nya pada Hari Kemerdekaan RI tahun ini.

Pada awal tahun ini, sang pemilik situs Luigi PRALANGGA menghubungi saya untuk me-redesign website nya. Saya juga diminta selain men-desain ulang juga membantu "bagian dapur" website ini (thanks Mas Luigi, saya hitung-hitung jadi "correspondent" it nya).

Jujur saja, hampir 5 design interface yang sudah di rancang sampai bertemu dengan design terakhir yang bisa dilihat pada situs tersebut. Beberapa kali saya malah bosan dengan desain yang sudah hampir rampung... dan pada akhirnya dapat juga desain yang "sreg"

Situs ini mengunakan Textpattern 4.0.5 sebagai engine CMS nya --- rancangan awalnya akan melanjutkan / mengunakan MovableType... Sehubungan MT memasuki versi 4.0 yang belum final release, jadi kesempatan menguji kehebatan TextPattern... Nyatanya TextPattern Rocks! Thanks buat Mas Kus untuk TxP plugins gravatarnya ya.

Situs ini sudah tercatat pada situs welovetxp.com. Coba lihat entry nya di sini. Bangga juga bisa hadir di situs ini.

Apa yang saya belajar dari project ini... wah banyak... Mas Luigi datang ke saya awal tahun bukan hanya memberikan saya project freelance... tapi saya bisa berteman dengan beliau. Banyak hal-hal mengenai Pasukan Penjaga Perdamaian dan orang-orang dibalik itu yang bisa saya kenal dan mengerti tugas-tugas mulia mereka; yang tidak pernah saya tahu selama ini --- Thanks... menjadikan dunia ini selalu damai...

Tunggu saja, saya akan mempersiapkan interview dengan Mas Luigi pada posting berikutnya. Sementara itu saya akan menulis pertanyaan-pertanyaannya.

Selamat Tinggal Google Adsense

Saya memutuskan untuk meniadakan iklan-iklan dari Google Adsense di semua halaman website aku. Sekedar bagian untuk "clean up" dari halaman website nya... kemudian persiapan untuk menaikan desain baru seluruh website ini... jadi tunggu saja kehadirannya...

Weakness into strength

Lift your head high

Where there is great difficulty, there are also great opportunities. Where there is sorrow, there is also much possibility for real joy.

In places of darkness, even a small light can make an enormous positive difference. When the situation seems hopeless, that's precisely when acting on hope can turn things around.

The greatest achievements often have their origins in the most complicated and perplexing problems. By accepting the possibility of dreadful failure, people are able to create magnificent success.

When it seems that no options remain, that's when a breakthrough is about to happen. Each setback along the way makes the eventual success that much more precious and valuable.

No matter how good or how difficult life may be now, there is always a realistic and accessible way to make it better. For you can learn, you can adapt, you can grow stronger, and you can take effective action to move forward.

Whatever may be, whatever may happen, lift your head high with thankfulness and enthusiasm. For when you so choose, the best is yet to come.

Ketemu Mas Luigi & Launching Peribumi

Wow... hari ini memang padat kegiatan saya... Pagi hari saya menuju ke kediaman Mas Luigi di daerah Jatiwaringin... Ngobrol tentang website PRALANGGA yang akan di roll-out 17 Agustus nanti... Saya ketemu juga dengan Abigail (yang baru saja berulang tahun), habis di jemput sama Mama/Papanya dari sekolah... Mas Luigi thanks untuk makan siangnya dan oleh-olehnya dari UNMIL - Liberia.

Setelah itu saya menuju Hard Rock Cafe Jakarta --- Karena hari ini Vandi dan temen-temennya meluncurkan album musik baru dari Group Band "Peribumi"... Sempet minta tanda tangan semua personilnya di CD Musik Peribumi... Selamat ya Vandi... Sukses untuk Band nya... GOD bless you all... Datang di HRC ketemu Bung Peter, Jefta, Keluarga Salindeho, dan Glorians... Ketemu juga sama Stevie...

Setelah selesai acaranya, saya dan Bung Peter melanjutkan ke Ruang Dewan BPK di Majelis Sinode (Depan Gambir) untuk Rapat HUT Perak PT GPIB + Dewan Teruna...

Ok deh ceritanya sampai disini dulu da ngantuk... Sambung Nanti ya...
