Install MT 4.1 di Windows XP

Ternyata meng-install MovableType di Windows XP lebih mudah sekarang...

Sebelum mulai... kita siapkan ini dulu ya :
* Movable Type version 4.1b3-en with: Professional Pack 1.1 download
* WAMPserver 1.7.3 download
* Windows XP SP2
* ActivePerl 5.10.0 download

Asumsi awal:
Di komputermu, Kamu hanya punya 1 harddisk ya...

Langkah-langkah:
01. Install WAMPServer nya dulu... (versi 2.0 juga bisa)
Saran di install di directory : c:\wamp\

02. Install ActivePerl
Harus di Directory : c:\usr\

[Check] Add Perl to the PATH environment variable
[Check] Create Perl file extension association

** Edit di WAMPServer config files httpd.conf sesuai di bawah ini:
a. cari Options Indexes FollowSymLinks --> rubah ke Options Indexes FollowSymLinks ExecCGI
b. cari #AddHandler cgi-script .cgi --> hapus tanda # dan rubah ke AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl

** Install via PPM - Perl Package Manager (dijalankan via command line dengan mengetik ppm): install packages DBI & DBD-mysql
catatan: kalau di repository standard tidak ada DBD-mysql coba tambahkan repository address ini : http://cpan.uwinnipeg.ca/PPMPackages/10xx/package.lst dan http://www.bribes.org/perl/ppm/package.xml

Realign Website Ini

Wow... cukup lama dan belum juga usai proses Realign Website vikingkarwur.com untuk "menyegarkan mata" para visitor situs ini...

Sampai pada RE realign part 3, saya juga belum cukup puas dengan tampilan-nya... Yang pasti untuk desain baru akan mengunakan TextPattern / MovableType... Pastinya juga mengunakan BluePrint CSS Framework...

Saya mencoba untuk menyelesaikan Website ini bertepatan dengan Ultah saya di Bulan Depan...

Mempersiapkan "perubahan" total website ini

Memang sudah waktunya website ini perlu di "rubah"... tapi tetap saja skema warna tetap dipertahankan (merah maroon hitam abu-abu). Sekarang saya sedang mempersiapkan design baru situs ini (iya website vikingkarwur.com --- semuanya...)

Kalau baca beberapa post terdahulu... langkah awal saya ada :
* Sudah menghilangkan Google Adsense (dari website ini --- tapi belum selesai di beberapa bagian...)
* Sudah mempersiapkan TextPattern 4.0.5 sebagai engine CMS berikutnya...

Website yang baru di tujukan untuk standard monitor 17"... bye2x 15" monitor... bukannya gak cinta... tapi monitor 15" da kekecilan...

Layout design / content baru sudah sampai dimana ?
* Skets nya da finish... semua halaman...
* Contents baru sebagian.... mudah-mudahan sukses bisa selesai 2 bahasa...
* Site structures nya da beres...
* Mockup sudah 75% finish...

Kenapa harus berubah ? jawabannya HARUS... paling tidak, harus sekarang...

Beberapa saat belakangan ini saya selalu berbicara tentang si TextPattern (TxP) ya ? Iya karena TxP ini sangat luwes banget di gunakan...

Nah, kalau ada saran untuk fungsi / features di situs baru... silahkan berikan komentarnya... Atau bisa juga via japri ya... Ada 1 hadiah untuk 1 orang yang memberikan komentarnya... dan saya akan pilih secara acak... Hadiahnya... 1 Tahun Hosting 400MB + 1 Tahun Domain Name gratis... Lumayankan... Nah saya tunggu komentarnya... Saya umumkan pada saat launch website baru...

MovableType 4.0 beta 5 dan Textpattern 4.0.5

Bukan sebuah kebetulan MovableType 4.0 beta 5 (MT4.0b5) dan Textpattern 4.0.5 (TXP4.0.5) mempunyai urutan angka-angka 4.0.5 :)

Trus... apa hubungan nya dengan saya ?
Gini... Saya mo bicara satu persatu mengenai MT dan TXP...

Pertama, MovableType (MT) 4.0
Sudah sekian lama mengunakan MT, saya terkesan banget dengan kehadiran MT 4.0 yang bener-bener keren... bukan hanya interface nya tapi kemampuannya sudah cangih deh...
Sekarang di local server ku sedang aku kutak-katik MT 4.0 beta (yang terbaru beta 5)... Mempersiapkan design baru vikingkarwur.com (VK) dengan versi finalnya MT 4.0 --- MovableType sudah jadi "bahasa alami" dalam pengunaan CMS, ***apalagi*** MT sudah memasuki Open Source.

Kedua, TextPattern (TXP) 4.0.5
Beberapa project terakhir saya, berhasil saya port ke TXP 4.0.4 (akan di update ke 4.0.5). Apa keren-nya TXP ? Gini, saya seneng banget dengan kecepatan implementasi dari hasil interface design (sudah berbentuk CSS/XHTML) menjadi website yang online dalam waktu kurang dari 5 jam. Ini sudah saya pernah coba.
Memang saya tadinya kurang suka dengan interface admin nya TXP; tapi sekarang da gak masalah lagi karena sudah ada "Interface Admin Lift-Up" nya. Malah saya sudah kutak-katik supaya sesuai dengan keinginan dari klien saya. Wow.

Trus kalau ditanya pilih MT atau TXP ? saya pilih 2-2 nya... Kenapa ? Untuk beberapa hal kedua nya tidak dapat dibandingkan... saya memilih 2-2nya karena, membantu pekerjaan saya setelah design interface selesai... saya tinggal memilih mau yang cepat saya pakai TXP & kalau memilih MT saya bisa "explore" lebih banyak dan butuh waktu extra...

Nah, altenatif pengunaan aplikasi sejenis bisa pakai MODxCMS, WordPress, RadiantCMS (RoR powered)...

Jadinya MT & TXP sudah jadi "engine standard" di vikingkarwur.com gitu...

Big Medium 2.0 --> karena cuman satu, ya ini dia juga pilihanku...

Semua aku install dan test... untuk membangun 1 website yang sama saya catat berapa lama jadinya (termasuk buat templatenya) dan berapa gampang implementasinya... disamping itu proses installasi engine menjadi catatan tersendiri saya...

Rommel Edition : CSS Reboot

Coming up : Rommel Edition dari vikingkarwur.com dalam keikutsertaan website ini dalam ajang cssreboot.com. Nantikan ya di 1 mei yang akan datang. Di mulai dari halaman depan (front page / home) yang akan berubah dari tema Reborn (rilis 2004) menjadi "Rommel Edition".

Sebagai informasi saja negara Indonesia berada di posisi 12 besar dari segi jumlah rebooters dalam partisipasi di cssreboot 2006. Ayo dukung para designer Indonesia supaya bisa berbicara banyak di tingkat international.

Fitur CMS itu harus ?

Fitur CMS (Content Management System) itu minimal mempunyai sebagai berikut :

* The ability to publish in the future. For example, adding content and setting the publish date hours, days, or weeks in advance.

* A feature that allows content to be displayed for a certain time span and then moved into an archive section or removed from the site.

* Easy to use. This probably doesn't need saying but I've been asking myself what "easy to use" means in this context. For one thing I think it means that training required is minimal, and that in a lot of ways adding content is much like creating a new Word document. I think it's a lot like using Movable Type for blogging. The interface is pretty intuitive and after a short training session most people can use it without much trouble.

* It should be fairly easy to add files, images, and related content. For example, if we want to add audio files, a .PDF document, or other type of file associated with content on the site then uploading and adding that should be easy to do.

* There should be a preview function and the preview should provide a display of exactly what the content on the page is going to look like. Believe it or not I've seen CMS software that doesn't do this.

* The CMS has to produce code that meets standards.

Workflow for Movable Type

Satu lagi plugin untuk MovableType (software blogging yang saya gunakan) dari SixApart yaitu Workflow diluncurkan...

the features: Workflow lets you limit control of publshing rights to certain authors in your Movable Type installation, allowing other people on the system to act as editors and review entries before they're published. Administrators can control who has rights to any of these levels of permissions. Plus, authors can transfer ownership of a post to other authors and they'll be notified by email when the transfer happens.

Ini dia CMS (Content Management System) baru, yang telah lama ditunggu-tunggu... Dulunya di namakan TypeWorks, sekarang dikenalkan dengan nama Symphony. Baca penjelasan dari developernya (twentyonedegree) di sini.
Barusan aku coba demonya, boleh juga sih... cuma untuk downloadnya belum disediakan yang Gratis :) --- Sayang ya!

DSBL Check for Movable Type

Brad Coate mengeluarkan plugin baru untuk MovableType yaitu mtdsbl 1.1, supaya dapat memblok/denied comments dari ip-ip yang sudah termasuk dalam "daftar hitam" di DSBL.

Hebatnya bisa kerjasama sama mt-blacklist :)

Mambo

Kalau denger namanya malah aku keinget dengan dua hal : es tong-tong dan t-shirt... Tapi yang Mambo satu ini adalah software CMS (Content Management System) berbasiskan PHP & MySQL... Yang enaknya software ini Gratis!

Aku da nyoba untuk mengunakan Mambo ini untuk situs tianshi.us.

Kalau menurut saya CMS ini keren, lumayan juga buat para pemula karena sudah ada installernya. Tinggal di jalanin dan website nya bisa siap sekejap. Untuk modifikasi lumayan mudah : baik template page dan css nya ngak susah deh.
